4.) Hubby and I are saving soooo much money that normally I'd be throwing away, LITERALLY
5.) No nasty dangerous chemicals against my precious babys skin
6.) Almost 9 1/2 months not one diaper rash yet (knock on wood)
7.) No stinky diapers hanging out in the trash can until trash day!
8.) It seems a little nutty to the majority but fluff makes changing diapers fun!
9.) The great fluff community I've gotten to be a part of due to cloth diapering my little guy
10.) My boy has the cutest tush on the block!

REVIEW - Rockin' Green Soap

Rockin’ Green is an award-winning manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products designed to make cleaning easier and greener. Rockin’ Green was founded by Kim Webb in 2009, she is a clothe diapering mom like us who wanted a better way to clean her diapers and watch out for her child's sensitive skin.

Although, Rockin' Green is most known for being a cloth diaper detergent it can be safely used with all of your everyday laundry.  Rockin’ Green's  detergents come in different formulas that work with hard, soft and normal water conditions (known as Hard Rock, Soft Rock and Classic Rock). If you don't know what your water type is they sell Water Quality Test Strips for as little as $0.60.

Rockin’ Green also carries Funk Rock, a first-of-its kind natural ammonia bouncer, Melody, an odor-neutralizer and air freshener home spray, Shake It Up Pail Freshener, for wet bags or diaper pails, Femme Rock, a cloth menstrual pad detergent, and Dog House Rock, an equally Eco-Friendly Pet Bed and Toy Detergent. Most of their[products  are available in seven natural scents, such as Smashing Watermelons, Earth Wind & Orchids, Rage Against the Raspberry, and Bare Naked Babies (unscented).  Unsure which scent you might like the most? They also carry Detergent Sample Packs which are good for 1-2 washes for as little as $0.85. In addition to detergents Rockin' Green carries a diaper sprayer, scoops, reusable totes, and more!

I can't tell you how excited I was to be able to do a review on Rockin' Green Soap.  I've heard a lot about it but, like a lot moms, I was sure that I could find something that would work at my local grocery store. The problem is that none of those detergents are specifically designed for cloth diapers.  Which is why so many start to have problems with build up, strong ammonia smells, and diapers repelling. Not to mention, your everyday detergents don't come in special formulas for soft, hard, or normal water.

For this review I received three samples from Rockin' Green in Motley Clean, Smashing Watermelon, and Rage Against the Raspberry. I chose the Hard Rock because we have hard water here and its been a struggle finding something that didn't, in the end, end up causing problems.

First impressions: I was surprised that the scent wasn't as overpowering as I had expected it to be, in fact, it was the perfect amount of fragrance.  Most likely, it wouldn't bother people with allergic reactions to scents but if it does Rockin' Green also comes in an unscented version called Bare Naked Babies.

The first load of cloth diapers that I washed contained a combination of AI2's, Pockets, Fitteds, Prefolds, Covers, and Flats.  I started as I normally do with a cold rinse, then a wash cycle with detergent, then a follow up rinse. Usually when I hang my diapers to dry I then have to toss them in the dryer for a minute, on no heat, just to fluff them up and make them feel soft again.  However, after using Rockin' Green Hard Rock I was able to skip this step.  I simply pull them off of my drying rack and I was good to go.  Of course, I had to smell them since I had just used this delicious scent but to my surprise it was just a clean smell left over.  I have not yet found a "grocery store" detergent that leaves my diapers with this non-perfumy clean leftover scent.  These yummy scents are just for mom since there is nothing left over to irritate your baby's sensitive skin and nose.

The second load was of our family clothing.  I threw in a mixture of my families laundry including some of the little ones stained shirts.  Everything came out super clean with no stains and just that wonderful clean scent left over.

The third packet I saved to soak some of my inserts that I have had problems with ever since my Liquid Tide fiasco.  I soaked the inserts in two tablespoons of Rockin Green for 3 hours (busy mama lost track of time) then washed them and did two rinses.  Keep in mind these inserts had gotten so bad that when little one would wet them we were hit with a horribly over-whelming eye burning ammonia smell. After soaking them I am happy to report that it fixed my inserts.  Taj has worn them all week and I have not smelled anything even once!

What I loved most about this whole experience is that I learned that I no longer need one detergent for the family, one that's safe for baby, and a third detergent for my diapers. With Rockin' Green I was able to wash everything with just two tablespoons of one detergent.  This is one happy mama who will be switching to Rockin' Green!

Now one of you lucky readers will get the chance to try this out in their home!  Rockin' Green and I are giving away one 45/90 load bag of detergent.  Enter to win via the rafflecopter form below.

New Cat?

So tonight we are going to see a cat that might be coming home with us. My daughter who is an animal fanatic has convinced daddy to get a cat.  So I started looking since I have missed having a cat myself.  Found this super cute Siamese thats fairly young and needing a new home so in a sense she is a rescue kitty and we couldn't be more excited.  She looks to be about 4-6 months but I'll know more hopefully after seeing her tonight.  We saw pictures and she looks absolutely gorgeous.

I had a very excited little girl here last night who couldn't get to sleep because every other word out of her mouth was kitty this and kitty that. She spent a lot of time listing everything we have to go buy for the new kitty and worrying about which toys the cat would like the best. We haven't had a cat in several years since we lost my dear sweet Kami that I miss so very much.

Lets keep our fingers and toes crossed that this kitten will turn out to be a good fit for our family so that I don't have a devastated little girl on my hands tonight. Hopefully I'll get to post some pictures tomorrow! :)

Enter to Win a One of a Kind Handmade Ammee Ring Sling by My Tajo's.

About This Apricot Shimmer Ammee Ring Sling ($65 Value):

I am a mom of three and with each of my children I have been a babywearer.  My oldest is a teenager my youngest is just months old.  I have been a babywearer for many years now.  I have used so many different styles of slings and I find that these are one of the most comfortable and are so very elegant. They are easy to put on and take off, easy to get your baby in and out of the sling, and they are easily adjusted when needed.  I personally hand sew all of these ring slings myself and I do not out source them to be sewn by others.

This double layer silk ring sling is made with Banarasi Silk. Being that it's double layered it gives you a whole other look when you reverse it.  If you choose not to show the backside or do not want the excess fabric hanging in the front it can be wound around the rings in a decorative manner. All of my rings come from SlingRings which is a very well known company among sling makers.  They are heavy duty and are well tested to ensure the ring itself is safe and will not break or bend. As I am making my slings I look at it as if my own baby were being carried in it therefore great care is taken in the making of each sling.  I hope that you and your little one enjoy my sling as much as Taj and I do.

    Homeschooling Mondays

One of the toughest subjects to get kiddos into is usually Math.  I've found that it's a subject where they need visuals to help them grasp the concept or sometimes the visuals just make math more fun.  I'm always on the lookout for new items to use.  We've used crayons, Squinkies, buttons, M&M's (which can be fun in subtraction when they eat the amount taken away), and just about anything else small that we can find.  I usually start by showing them the math problem then they count out each number and do the math.

One of the cutest ideas I've seen yet is from a fellow Blogger, The Kent Chronicles.  She has created addition and subtractions sheets using pictures of leggos.  There are a few available on her page for use. Personally I didn't print off her sheets  simply broke out the actual leggos.  Using Leggos works really well to lay out the problem in the actual Leggos and then have your child write out how that would look written out in actual numbers.  Once I showed my daughter how to do it I thought she was never doing to stop.  She sat and made up endless amounts of her own problems and the excitement in her voice while working with them made it all worth it to me.  Even after her school day was done she continued making up math problems in her head and then created her own Math Book.

The best thing about this idea is that you don't have to be homeschooling your kids for this to benefit you.  No matter what your schooling situation is, if your child is struggling in math, you can use this same idea to help them grasp math.  It creates a fun and exciting environment for learning and grabs their attention.

I hope everyone is have a SUPER Monday and that you get a chance to check out The Kent Chronicles.

    GIVEAWAY - Mommy Must Haves

    Mommy Must Have ....

    Time in a day,
    Presence of mind,
a group of supportive friends,  and

Enough love in her heart to make it through the day.

Sometimes it is hard to know what those MUST have items are! AttachedMoms.com and ClothDiapersToday.com picked a few of their favorites and are excited to share them with you!

The first must have is a great system for organizing. Why not check out an Organizing Utility Tote by Thirty-one Gifts.

One of the basics supplies out there is soap. It Is Well Soap is family-made from a very loving family based in Phoenix.

The next must have is a baby carrier. Babies need that touch and mommy will have things to get done. Unfortunately some of those take a hand or two and a baby carrier like the Boba is a wonderful option!

The next must have is great shoes for the kiddos! See Kai Run offers cute shoes for both boys and girls, and their crib shoes are a definite must have!

Once your kiddos start eating food, it will be important to introduce them to fruits and vegetables. Copy-Kids DVD is a great way to help that picky toddler see other kids enjoy vegetables and likely get your kiddo on the route to good eating as well!

Now, don't forget about aunt flow! I tell you, even with TANDEM nursing on demand, I had less than 6 weeks between post-partum flow and aunt flow. To get yourself covered, consider reusable mama cloth. Really, it works awesome! MotherMoonPads are top of the line!

When baby is here, and perhaps elimination communication isn't cut out for your family, may I suggest cloth diapers? There are tons of options out there from upcycled t-shirts on the "old fashioned" prefolds to factory made waterproof diapers. Right in between that you have work-at-home-mom made diapers. One of my favorites is Made With Love Diapers.

Finally, kiddos know that mama needs relaxing, and one great way to relax is with a pedicure. Well sometimes getting that time alone isn't possible so kiddos can join in with the fun with Piggy Paint!

And to carry all your stuff, you need a nice bag. Fans of Attached Moms are eligible for a free gift from Thirty-One gifts with Amanda McMahon, Independent Consultant!

Thanks again for following this event! Feel free to use those share buttons!

     More being added daily!
I look forward to seeing you all there!!!

    Cool Thursday Tip

    Today's Tip
    ANT KILLER

As well as you all know ants are basically a nightmare!  Once they find their way to your house, around your house, or in your house they are almost impossible to get rid of.  Like most of us I would head off in search of bug killer but then you don't want your kiddos crawling around where you just sprayed.

I'm happy to say there is a much safer family friendly way to kill your ants.... Baby Powder!  The baby powder dehydrates the ants but is still safe for your family, your kids and pets.  Plus when you consider the cost its a huge difference you can get a bottle of baby powder at the dollar store but a can of bug spray can cost anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on how big of a problem you have. So the next time you seen an ant mound or see a trail of them in your kitchen go grab baby your powder.

    Washin' Wednesday

Today was one of my cloth diaper washing days.  Typically I wash every 2 days, 3 if I'm being lazy. This week I'm right on schedule!

Initially when I started cloth diapering Taj I started with All Free and Clear Powder.  Honestly I've never really had problems.  I didn't have build up, I didn't strip my diapers, I didn't have staining (and I never ever sun my diapers), and I never had an ammonia build up.

Even before I began blogging I was into testing different products trying to see what works the very best.  So I decided to try All Free and Clear Liquid to see if I had the same results. I did not!!  I started having horrible build up and spent three days washing the death out of my diapers to get all of the soap out of it.  Not to mention I was having problems with the evil "S" word STINK.

After some major stripping I switched back to my All Free and Clear Powder.  Everything was gold again!

After attending the GCDC this year I received some Eco-Nuts and a package of ECOVER.  I will say they both seemed to clean my diapers with no issues but its hard to tell much from one wash cycle.  I might someday look into doing a long term review of these.

Most recently I decided I wanted to try Tide since so many just love it.  Just like the All Free and Clear Liquid, after just a few washes I again started having stink and build up.  I even had slight staining on one of my inserts, a  major downside for me. After another three days stripping the death out of my diapers, needless to say, I will not be using Tide again.

Currently I am reviewing Rockin' Green Soap. I will say that my first impression is good.  The one thing about cloth diaper laundry that I've never liked is that everything smells so blah.  I will say I am hopeful because Rockin' Green smells so yummy..  Stay tuned for the upcoming Rockin' Green Review and Giveaway.

    Meet Taj

Meet Taj (aka Tajo) My Number 1 (and only) Diaper Tester

As I dive into my new adventure of blogging about fluff and more I thought it'd be nice for all of you to meet Taj, my little diaper tester.

    Taj (my handsome son)

    Age: 8 months

    Weight: 22 lbs

Wetting Habits: Initially I was in cloth heaven.  I had read so much about how hard it was to find "nighttime solutions".  It seemed like cloth was a perfect fit for us since we never had a leaked day or night.  Then all of a sudden around 5 months just over night he became a heavy wetter. I tried all kinds of different insert combinations.  It seemed no matter what I tried he leaked.  Nights he looked ridiculous his butt was so big I couldn't imagine it would even be comfortable for him since the poor baby could barely roll over in it.  First I tried taking my largest pockets and stuffing them with 3 or 4 inserts and still he'd wake up wet.  Then I decided that I needed to try wool with fitteds.  I found this fabulous WAHM that made the most adorable Wool Shorties out of upcycled sweaters.  I still love my wool, however, at this time in my life I don't seem to have the time or patience for their maintenance.  I still use my wool but not nightly.  I finally found a solution and it was as simple as this, a prefold and cover.  It's super trim, as you can see below, and we have not had one leak in 2 months.  I am going to continue my search for great "nighttime solutions", so when I find another nighttime solution I'll be sure to let you know!

Current Hobbies:  He has what I call "a crippled crawl".  Literally he crawls with a limp.  He is just dying to be up and walking and although he's close.... no dice!  He walks all over the house as long as he can hang onto something. Just this week he's starting to stand without holding on to anything.  No worries his crippled crawl doesn't slow him down any.  He still has no problem getting into anything and everything.... of mine that is!  He starts out with his toys and once he's thrown them all out of the toy bin he's onto bigger and better thing.  His favorite thing to do is open my drawers and pull everything out!  While I am busy running around cleaning he's right  behind me crawling at super speed to keep up.  I take pity on him when I can and tote him along with me.

Nighttime Sleep Habits:  Unfortunately, he has my bad sleeping habits.  I have had the hardest time sleeping as long as I can remember and poor Taj is the same way!  He sleeps very restless.  I start out with good intentions of him sleeping in his crib. I would put him in his crib he'd wake up I'd put him back to sleep and it'd start all over again.  I was up and down all night and barely able to function the next day.  Although he still has trouble sleeping he has worn me down and now when he wakes I just bring him to bed with us. His crib is in our bedroom and within an hour he's up and the only way he'll sleep now is to co-sleep with us.  Yes I know its just become a habit for him but we don't mind.

One of my many favorite things about Taj is how sweet and happy he is. I guess technically that's two things. While we are busy with our day no matter if we are playing together or each busy doing our own thing (he's busy playing and I'm cleaning, working, or taking care of our other kiddos) Taj will look at me and give me the biggest and best little smile!  Just when I think I can't love him anymore he manages to make my heart love him more.

    Homeschool Mondays

    Homeschool Mondays

For the past 7 years I've used Calvert School for my homeschooling lesson plans. With their 100+ years of experience I feel that they have the very best program available.

When your school box arrives it contains everything you will need for the entire year.  Calvert's full curriculum packages include textbooks, workbooks, lesson manuals, and supplies (including lined paper, pencils, an eraser, a ruler, a protractor, a compass, drawing materials) – everything needed to complete that year’s lessons.

Calvert's complete curriculum, covers the three Rs (reading, writing, and arithmetic) as well as science, art, history, geography, music, technology, as well as a lot of other other areas of learning to ensure that my children are getting a well rounded curriculum. The lesson plans are written out in such great detail that it literally tells you word for word what to say.

Calvert is so well set up that I don't spend time, that I would normally spend with my family, researching and writing lesson plans.

My favorite thing about homeschooling, in comparison to traditional school, is that if your child excels at a subject you can quickly move on and if they need more help you can spend that time working with them until they are ready to move on.  In a classroom setting teachers don't have that luxury, they have 19 plus students that are ready to move on. So, basically, there are holes left in your child's education. With my oldest we wouldn't find out for months that he had been struggling with a new concept and if we had known we could have worked with him on it right away.  By the time the teacher would call us in to discuss it with us our son no longer had an interest in going backwards to learn what his teacher had just let him bypass and move on.

I am sure all of you agree, whether homeschool is for you or not, that its so great that we as moms have so many opportunities to do what we feel is best for our family. I would love to hear your thoughts on homeschooling or traditional school so please leave your comment below.
